Egypt-Japan Business Matching Seminar, in Cooperation with UNIDO and JCCME

In cooperation between: (Egypt-Japan Business Council, Egyptian Embassy in Japan (Economic and Commercial Office in Tokyo), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Japan Center for Cooperation with the Middle East (JCCME) : The visit of the Japanese business mission was organized for officials from UNIDO and JCCME together with representatives of 12 Japanese companies in the industrial, commercial and service fields, which include promising business sectors aiming to enhance business cooperation between Egypt and Japan, such as health services sector, venture capital, spare parts, production components and information technology.

The activities of the visit continued for one week of December 3-8; and the mission's activities were held in cooperation with organizers over four working days from Sunday, December 4 until Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

The following is a brief report on the most important activities of the Japanese business mission in Egypt:

First: - Egypt-Japan Business Matching Seminar: which held on Sunday, December 4, 2022

- The morning session, which included speeches of the organizers, speech by H.E. Ambassador of Japan to Egypt, speech by H.E. Ambassador of Egypt to Japan, the Japanese External Trade Organization JETRO presentation, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones GAFI presentation, and an introduction presentation of the twelve Japanese companies’ members of the business mission to Egypt and their aspirations for partnership and investment in Egypt.

- The afternoon session, which continued until 5pm with bilateral meetings between Egyptian and Japanese businessmen, included representatives of 50 Egyptian companies in an intensive meetings with members of the Japanese mission, JETRO, JICA, UNIDO and JCCME to discuss the possible aspects of cooperation.

- The official reception which was held by H.E. Japanese ambassador in Cairo to welcome the Japanese mission and celebrate the success of the Business Matching Seminar.

Second: Site visits and joint meetings over three working days:

- First day visits on Monday, December 5, 2022 to Elaraby Group’s factories for home appliances of Japanese brands Sharp, Sony and Toshiba

- The second day, Tuesday, December 6, 2022 visits to the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone and meeting with the head of the authority, Japanese factories and industrial clusters in the SCZone.

- Field visits to the sectors represented in the mission's activities on the third day , Wednesday, December 7, 2022, which include:

o Healthcare sectors (Group A) visit to El-Araby hospitals and joint meeting with the Export Council for Medical Industries

o Representatives of Industry sector (GROUP B) visit to the Industrial Development Authority IDA, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) and FOODAFRICA exhibition.

o IT Sector Representatives (GROUP C) Visit to the IT Chamber, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).
